Help with getting the psychedelic sound on the guitar?

What type of guitar can help get the psychedelic sound? I was thinking maybe a Richmond empire by godin. Or a godin 5th avenue kingpin with a wah pedal could give a unique sound. Or an Electra guitar? I don't have much $$ to spend (up to 700$)
