High E string producing tinny sound on 3rd fret?

My acoustic guitar was been perfectly fine yesterday, but today when I started playing I noticed that playing the third fret on the high E string produces a very tinny and ugly sound which causes chords to sound very off. If I put a capo on it it still is tinny. Yesterday it was perfectly fine but now it's not. What could be wrong?
