Norcal star and name tattoo?

I got a black and white nautical star on my right shoulder the other day with nor cal written above it. It is done really well and looks pretty cool. I got it because i have lived in sacramento, redding, richmond, and oakland, basically all over northern caliornia. I was wondering do you think a tattoo like this is a little too gang affillliated? because I purposely did not make it red for that reason.
